Book Purchase Details

I consider the book to be part of the BCL legacy. Like many others I think BCL was a great company and my/our time on the island something very special. I have a huge archive of mainly colour pictures from the era and I want to share them widely while I still can (in 2025 I am 75 years old) who knows how much longer I will be here.

The book features the best of my images (arranged in topics).

The book is/was a solo project to keep costs down, I did all tasks myself (except the original printing).

I have always priced the book as reasonably as I could, making on average $6 a copy after direct expenses (printing, USB thumb drive, and postage costs). That's the price of a typical coffee.

Recently I saw another PNG book offered for $35/download.

To purchase the book it is best to contact me directly by Email, on 2bobbox25@gmail.com and I will provide banking details.

If you want a thumb drive copy of the book I will need your postal address, if you want a copy Emailed I will need your you Email address. The thumb drive copy is $12, the email copy is $6.

The Book

The book started small, just a collection of pictures but as more pictures and information became available or came to mind, it's scope gradually expanded to include anecdotes (hopefully entertaining) history, some politics, and my interpretation of where it all went wrong. I donated free early copies of the book on Facebook and at a Bougainville reunion in May 2024 in the hope of receiving constructive feedback. Very little came, I wasn't sure why, was it so terrible that people didn't want to offend me, or was it just a symptom that as a group we are getting old and forgetful?

The book continued to  grow and I had it printed Oct 2014 (just 100 copies) which sold out very rapidly so I'm assuming it wasn't too bad. That version had about 160 pages about 60 of text and the rest pictures (about 600). After that I sold E copies generally on USB sticks which I posted around Australia but some international.

The book has now gradually expanded to over 250 pages with quite a bit more text and over a thousand pictures.

Those who bought the original Version 1 of the book can now get the current, hugely upgraded Version 2 of the book, for about the price of a coffee (if they want it Emailed).

The Australian media has tended to say the mine was all bad, but I like thousands of others who were eye witnesses to the actual events, think quite the opposite.

The book is a PDF file sized about 65MB.
