Our Area

Our gite is centrally positioned for exploring the main attractions of the Dordogne Valley.

In ancient times the Dordogne valley was carved out by glaciers, you can still see where they cut away the cliffs. 50,000 years ago it was a home for ancient man. For centuries it was the border between the English controlled Aquitaine region and the rest of France. During the Hundred Years War and at other times national and religious armies plagued the region, hence the need for castles, walled towns and refuge caves. All that history has created a beautiful and amazing place.
